Friends of St Andrew's
The Friends of St Andrew's Church, Stapleford, is a charity independent of the church which exists to help maintain the church building. It is supported by lots of people in the congregation and in the wider village - everyone who thinks it is important to maintain this beautiful historic building for the benefit of generations to come.
The Friends are registered with the Charity Commission (No. 1048111) and run by a management committee who are also the trustees. It has its own bank account and, although the church is the only beneficiary of the charity, the funds can only be used for specific purposes in accordance with the rules of the charity and at the discretion of the trustees.
The purpose of the Friends
The formal charitable objects of the Friends are:
to maintain, repair, restore, preserve, improve and reconstruct for the benefit of the public the fabric of the church of St Andrew's, Stapleford, its fixtures, fittings, furniture, stained glass, ornaments and other chattels.
The trustees take these objects seriously, and no funds are spent except in accordance with them.

Membership of the Friends requires an annual donation of at least £5, but many members are extremely generous and pay substantially more. We are grateful for all donations!

Trustees
The management committee are also the trustees. The committee includes three ex officio members (the vicar and churchwardens of the church), six members elected at annual general meetings, who retire in rotation after three year terms of office (with a maximum of two consecutive terms) and co-opted members who serve until the next AGM.
